This is a candid and intimate interview with Dr. Gabor Maté.
A renowned speaker, and bestselling author, Dr. Gabor Maté is highly sought after for his expertise on a range of topics including addiction, stress and childhood development. Rather than offering quick-fix solutions to these complex issues, Dr. Maté weaves together scientific research, case histories, and his own insights and experience to present a broad perspective that enlightens and empowers people to promote their own healing and that of those around them.
As an author, Dr. Maté has written several bestselling books including the award-winning “In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction”; “When the Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress”; and “Scattered Minds: A New Look at the Origins and Healing of Attention Deficit Disorder”.
Gabor speaks with Joanna about the distinction between abstinence and sobriety; essential dignity; teacher plants and integration; the loss of essence; the love and shedding the illusion; the liveliness of truth.

Excellent interview with one of my heroes. Joanna asks very provacative questions which Gabor answers with a deep honesty that is both moving and inspirational.
Thank you both so very much for shedding a spot of light in what often seems like a very dark world.
I have heard Dr.Gabor Mate speak a few times and I have also read his books. I believe his work is cutting edge on so many fronts. It will take me too long to comment on all of his theories and ideas. I find Dr. Mate has a unique ability to connect to the disadvantaged and to those with addictions. He has so much to offer and I look forward to hearing this interview.
Thank you, Linda

And I totally agree with Rachel Maté:
“The baby who cries for the parent is not engaging in “tyranny,” she is expressing her deepest need — emotional and physical contact with the parent.” For once and for all!
