Maya_WardIn this week’s episode, Maya Ward speaks with Joanna about her pilgrimage to the source of Melbourne’s Yarra River: a journey in the spirit of reconciliation; a river that is a Songline; pilgrimage as a walking meditation with the land; widening perception with the Earth music; becoming as creative as the world; “walking the river helped me to feel the vastness of the world”; creating a new culture of community with the more-than-human-world.

Maya Ward was born in and has lived most of her life in Yarra River country. She has worked as an urban designer, permaculture teacher and environmental educator, public art designer, musician, performer, festival director, poet and writer. She now divides her time between inner-city Brunswick and planting trees on her block by the Yarra in Warburton. She is the author of “The Comfort of Water: A River Pilgrimage”.
